When you connect with a horse...

I recently visited Sussex Horse Rescue, to work with a mare named Aoife, who was hyper anxious and had been isolated from the rest of the heard by the very confident gelding
On arrival it felt like he wanted her all to himself, yet he had caused her to retreat to the far end of the field, away from all of them, and away from the gate
She was ok for me to approach, but wasn't too keen on physical contact. She was hyper vigilant, startling at the slightest anticipated flee. I offered her anti anxiety essentials oil to help her release any physical or emotional tension. She inhaled deeply, followed by several yawns, a cat arch back, then a full body shake!
She slightly moved away and asked for energy healing
I slowly moved towards her as she stood still, allowing me to touch her.
She aligned herself directly facing me, and allowed me to touch her nose. I moved in closer and rested my forehead just above her nostrils
Everything slowed down. I could hear and feel the wind brushing past us, her breath leaving her nostrils, deepening as we continued. Sliding her head down whilst continuing contact with mine, she stopped when our foreheads met, our 3rd eyes were aligned. Was this intentional..?
It would be easy for me to dismiss it. It would also be ignorant of me to think it was anything but. Horses don't do anything they don't want to, unless they are forced. They are prey animals, with acute senses, who can 'read' and feel a being's energy from several meters away.
We stayed in this position for about 10 minutes. My intention; to connect with this beautiful being, to open myself as a channel to allow the healing energy thorough, to give and receive.
She lifted her head and rested it over and on my shoulder, remaining there for several minutes. Once again she positioned her nostrils below my nose, I placed my forehead, she slid her head down, our 3rd eyes met. Such a beautiful and natural experience
She gently lifted her head, and moved away just out of reach. Her energy felt calmer, and two mares came to join her. I thanked her and went over to a gelding with an infected leg, to see if he wish to self select any remedies to heal it.
As I walked to the gate to leave, Aoife was there with two mares.
Her energy was definitely more balanced, more confident, more grounded. The gelding came over and placed himself between her and the gate, she wasn't so compliant with him....her energy had shifted!
